| Martyn Swats 3 Homers Thursday, August 25th, 2005 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Manchester Bobcats today.
Las Vegas right fielder Bob Martyn tripled up on the home runs to propel the Hairy Nuts to the 8-4 win at Manchester Lions Club.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Manchester manager said. "Martyn hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Martyn collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Bob Martyn hit a two-run home run off Bill C Phillips in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Bill C Phillips in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jamie Arnold in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
Martyn is hitting .195 in 2005 with 9 RBIs and 3 home runs. | | |
