| Rocco Selected Top Player Monday, September 5th, 2005 After all of Mickey Rocco's years in baseball, some have suggested -- albeit very delicately -- that he should think about calling it quits. But the "mature adult," as he calls himself, showed last week that he's still capable of keeping up with the youngsters. The 40-year-old Las Vegas first baseman was honored today as the Sub League 1 Player of the Week.
He fended off all comers by posting a .370 average with 10 hits in 27 at-bats, 6 home runs and 9 RBIs.
Rocco is hitting .298 this year with 19 home runs, 47 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 51 hits in 171 at-bats, 20 walks and a .370 on-base percentage. Rocco has played in 44 games. | | |
