Terry Shumpert said he wanted to put all rumors that he was over the hill and couldn't compete at a high level anymore to rest. Mission accomplished.

At the age of 36, the Auckland Tuatara star was at the top of his game all season long and has won the 2005 ABBA 2A Most Valuable Player Award.

The veteran captured the award with a .307 batting average and a .410 on-base percentage this year. In 132 games he piled up 155 hits, 37 doubles, 5 triples, 13 home runs, 90 RBIs and 107 runs scored.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Heinie E Mueller of the Auckland Tuatara finished second in voting, while Don Bollweg of the Auckland Tuatara finished third.
