| McKnight Rips Maine for 5 Hits Sunday, June 26th, 2005 Harrisburg first baseman Jeff McKnight had a big day at Scottsdale Grounds today against the Maine Mariners. The 30-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Senators to a 4-3 triumph over Maine.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," McKnight said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Jeff McKnight singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year McKnight is hitting .293, produced 35 RBIs and 4 home runs, scored 30 times and gotten on base at a .367 rate. | | |
