| Eagles Win, 8-3, at Birmingham | The Houston Eagles defeated the Birmingham Black Barons, 8-3, at Rickwood Field. Houston left fielder Bernie F Williams had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Yu Darvish, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 19-15.
Fred Carroll's at-bat in the top of the fourth inning was a big one for Houston. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Houston trailing 1-0, the right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Williams told the Houston Daily. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
