Federals Sneak Past Black Yankees, 6-5 | The Chicago Federals took New York pitcher Dennis Lamp's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Yankee Stadium I. The final score had Chicago getting past the Black Yankees, 6-5. Lamp went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 4. The win was credited to Grant Bowler in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Oliver Twist took the loss. The win puts Chicago at 19-28.
Chicago used a clutch hit from Willie Wells to get the win. The shortstop drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Federals ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I like to lead by example," said Wells. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win." | | | | |
