| Rhines Joins Greats on 1st Attempt Wednesday, January 3rd, 1996 At the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies today, the longtime friend and manager of Billy Rhines told the audience, "The worst thing as a manager is the day you realize you want to win more than the players do. I never had that problem with Billy. Nobody wanted to win more than this gifted pitcher."
For his strong and consistent pitching over the years, Rhines was voted into the Awesome Bigley Baseball Association Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers Association.
When he ended his career at age 38, Rhines had a career won-loss record of 273 wins and 199 losses with 2122 strikeouts in 4239 innings and a 3.76 ERA. | | |
