| Aikens Smashes 3 Homers for Yokohama Wednesday, September 14th, 2005 At Kanagawa Prefecture Park today, Willie Aikens hit homer after homer after homer. But they didn't add up to enough to beat the Houston Eagles as the Yokohama Dodgers went down to defeat, 5-4.
"It was a good game for me, not so good for our team," the Yokohama first baseman said. "I got lucky. I made some good swings on some pitches. We just didn't put up one in the win column."
On his monumental day, he had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 3 runs, and scored 3 times.
"The third one was totally unexpected," Aikens told reporters after his extraordinary game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get another home run and bang, I got number three."
Willie Aikens hit a solo-shot off Kevin Tapani in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kevin Tapani in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Brian Fuentes in the 8th.
So far this year Aikens is batting .276 with 31 home runs, 87 RBIs and 88 runs scored. | | |
