| Black Yankees on to Division Round | Bob Ojeda said he was extremely nervous before taking the mound in the Play-in Round.
"How could you not be?" Ojeda said. "There's not much margin for error in a one-game series and that's nerve-wracking."
But the New York hurler soon settled in, and it showed. His club came out on top, with a 5-4 win at Yankee Stadium I over the Caribou Caribou, to advance to the Division Round.
"Once you get going, you sort of calm down a bit," Ojeda explained. "But we're still relieved to get the win, that's for sure."
Ojeda was named MVP after throwing 5.2 innings, with 5 strikeouts, while allowing 7 hits, 2 walks and no runs.
Caribou manager Miguel Jon Woodsum said his club was "disappointed, but not devastated" and he promised they would be back contending for another World Series next season.
The New York Black Yankees will play against the Los Angeles Angels in the next round. Los Angeles had a bye in the Play-in Round. The Division Round is scheduled to begin on October 9th, 2003. | | |  | |
