Athletics Hammered by Bressoud, Fall Further Behind in R1
The Caribou Caribou moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Kansas City Athletics at Dead River Aroostookdome by a score of 7-3. Caribou second baseman Eddie Bressoud did some major damage. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Caribou a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Round.

Roberto Kelly, who finished 5th in the AL in hits with 198 in 1987, aided the Caribou cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 4 with a double, while scoring 2 runs.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Bressoud. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow at Dead River Aroostookdome in Caribou. Slated to start are Red Ames for the Kansas City Athletics and Mel Harder for the the Caribou Caribou.
